Grafika Artystyczna - The 14th Graphic Arts Biennale: IMPORT/EXPORT

Since its inception in 1999, the Graphic Arts Biennale has been a key event for emerging artists in the graphic arts community. The competition aims to showcase the work of young creators, providing them with the opportunity to gain exposure and recognition. In 2019, the competition’s format underwent a significant transformation, shifting focus to thematic areas that engage with contemporary cultural concerns. Thematic frameworks were introduced to examine alternative artistic values and their interaction with current social realities, reflecting changes in the art world, such as the rise of post-artistic practices, activist art movements, and material realism.

The 14th edition of the Biennale, scheduled for spring 2025 in Poznań, will explore the theme of IMPORT/EXPORT. This theme examines the complex relationships between dominant and peripheral countries and how these dependencies contribute to cultural self-colonization. Through this lens, the Biennale seeks to investigate how the global exchange of artistic ideas plays a role in reinforcing societal divisions and shaping the discourse around contemporary art.
